Hello and welcome!
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate seeing individual adult clients in the state of Washington.
If any of these statements cross your mind, I encourage you to reach out and see if I am a good fit for your mental wellness journey:
There has to be more to life than the daily grind.
I have things figured out and really dialed in. Yet, I don't feel much joy or happiness.
There are things I avoid in life and I don't know why.
I know my reactions have hurt others, but I don't know how else to respond.
I've read the books, done the therapy, talked it through. Something still isn't changing.
I keep hearing about needs, boundaries, shame, guilt, purpose, trauma, and/or feelings. I don't completely get why these things are important, but a part of me wonders about them.
There are parts of me…things I do, feel, or think…that I haven't shared with anyone.
I hold it together on the outside. Inside, something feels ignored or uncomfortable and I'm not sure what to do with it.
My Approach
I bring warmth, curiosity, and a good sense of humor to the work, and I show up as a real person, not just a clinician. Therapy with me is a place where all of you is welcome, at whatever pace makes sense, with someone who isn't going to flinch.
What you can expect in session: I do more than listen. I notice more than what's being said, and I'll bring that in gently when it's useful. I'll offer direction when it's appropriate, and I'll follow your lead when that's what is needed. Sessions can go to difficult places, and they can also have moments of lightness and laughter. Both belong.
The work itself is experiential. That means things happen in session, actively explored and worked through together, not just reflected on. Nothing about you needs to be eliminated. The behaviors, reactions, and ways of coping that cause you the most trouble didn't come from nowhere, and they're not permanent.
I work primarily with Internal Family Systems (IFS), a framework that helps people understand and relate differently to the patterns and reactions that have been running the show. I also use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which is best known for trauma processing but has broader applications than most people realize, and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) when it fits. Together we find what works for you.
You already have what you need. My job is to help you find your way to it, and to be present and purposeful enough in session that the path becomes clearer.
My Education & Training
Master of Arts Degree in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling from George Fox University
Master of Business Administration from Willamette University
Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Oregon State University
I have completed training in EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).
I pursue continued self study in trauma, shadow work, somatic experiencing, interpersonal neurobiology, and what some may call woo-woo type stuff.
Personally
I am a long-time resident of the Pacific Northwest. This is a second career for me having spent time in healthcare and education.
When I’m not at work, my family and I enjoy exploring the outdoors, having living room dance parties with our kiddos, and traveling. I also enjoy reading, being creative, listening to music, and marveling at the whole of it - the beauty, the brevity, and everything that's hard to explain.
